With two military heroes at the center, in The Way Home Gerard weaves a wonderfully tender tale about love, loss and second chances. The genuine, down-to-earth characters — soldier Tyler and Army widow Jess — along with their heartfelt emotions and sweet chemistry make for a story readers can’t help but fall in love with. This is a gem of a read.

After a brief meeting 18 months before, former special ops soldier Tyler Brown appears in widow Jess Albert’s store — looking to begin a relationship with her if she’s willing to take the chance. Jess doesn’t think it will work, having once been married to a soldier. For her, it is too high of a risk. Yet, after sharing a kiss with Tyler, her heart changes. When Jess’ husband is discovered alive, everything grinds to a halt. For Tyler, the chance he wants with Jess may never come, while for Jess, there’s a possible second chance with the husband she thought she lost. (GALLERY, Nov. 336 pp., $19.99)
