The second in this summer’s back-to-back-to-back trilogy focuses on ex-football player Sam Ridge, whose previous marriage was a disaster and whose parents are hilariously uncensored when it comes to all things sex-related. Mallery’s latest hero’s track record makes him the epitome of “once burned, twice shy,” but that means readers have more fun watching him fall in love. A quintessential Mallery pleaser!

Sam Ridge and event planner Dellina Hopkins had a one-night stand a while ago that ended badly when Sam misunderstood the reason for a roomful of wedding gowns. This time their interactions are strictly business since PR firm Score wants to hire Dellina to put on a weekend event for some of their clients. Dellina quickly proves she is very good at what she does, which impresses Sam. But things get tricky when Dellina unknowingly books Sam’s “sex expert” mother to be the guest lecturer during the retreat. Sam hasn’t had much luck with the women in his life; dare he take a chance with Dellina? (HQN, Jun., 368 pp., $8.99)
