As a brand-new mother, Laura Fleming doesn't anticipate getting involved in any murder cases—at least for a while. Then she gets called home to celebrate her aunt Maggie's new marriage. Longtime fans of this series know that when Laura goes home to Byerly, something is going to happen.

Shocked that Aunt Maggie has decided to wed after years of bad-mouthing marriage, Laura isn't surprised to learn that the couple has an ulterior motive: Someone has been trying to kill Big Bill Walters, and hopefully Maggie's presence in his life will put an end to that. But when their plan fails, Laura is lured into searching for a killer.

The Laura Fleming series has been consistently good, and WED AND BURIED is no exception. The characters are irresistibly engaging, the plotting is superb and the ending terrific. Let's hope this series goes on for quite a while. (Feb., 272 pp., $22.00)
