TO WED A STRANGER
by Edith Layton

Genre: Historical Romance
Setting: Regency England

RT Rating

Beautiful, proud and flirtatious, Lady Annabelle Wylde consents to
an arranged marriage to Miles Croft, Viscount Pelham.

Miles finds Annabelle possessed of wit, good looks and the social skills and status he'll need in a wife to enter society. Neither enters into the marriage with love in mind.

While on their honeymoon, Annabelle becomes seriously ill, and Miles stays by her side through her ordeal and her recovery. She emerges a shadow of her former self.

Annabelle discovers that her husband is gentle and kind, and Miles is pleased to see a bit of the old Annabelle returning as she continues to recuperate. Their marriage slowly develops into a loving relationship, but an old scandal and a challenge to duel threaten the newfound lovers.

Although TO WED A STRANGER is not as strong as Layton's previous romances, she does deliver an emotionally compelling love story. SENSUAL (Mar., 380 pp., $5.99)
