THE WEDDING SEASON (4) by Deborah Hale & Louise M. Gouge: Both stories in this sweet collection involve characters who never waver from their dreams of love and happiness. In Gouge’s “The Gentleman Takes a Bride,” set in Hampshire, England, in 1810, Elizabeth Moberly is sure she’s destined to marry a lord, yet she’s irresistibly drawn to the untitled stranger who interrupts her cousin’s wedding. In Hale’s “Much Ado About Nuptials,” set in the Cotswolds, England, in 1814, Sebastian Stanhope, Viscount Benedict tries to convince governess Rebecca Beaton to sever the engagement between her charge and his half-brother, but she encourages the lovers, teaching Sebastian a lesson in love along the way.
