She may
have God on her side, but Ashley Wilkes Stockingdale is just as confused and self-deprecating as any Bridget Jones. The Christian single is a patent attorney in Silicon Valley, and with all those engineers around, you'd think she'd have no trouble finding an eligible man. Not so! Even her best buddy, Seth, thinks of her as a non-possibility. Then she meets Kevin Novak, a doctor who knows exactly WHAT A GIRL WANTS (4). If only Ashley herself had a clue! Kristin Billerbeck does a stellar job bringing the chick-lit voice to the inspirational genre, expertly name-
dropping Manolo and Choo, as well as Christian celebs like Franklin Graham and J. Vernon McGee. Unfortunately, Ashley is a little less than appealing, self-pitying to the extreme, immature and judgmental. But that too is often a hallmark of chick lit, and she does turn around in the end as her inner faith helps her grow as a person. (Mar., 288 pp., $13.99)
