A fine addition to the Truly, Idaho series, Gibson’s latest features lots of humor, steamy encounters and cute kids, as well as grown-ups dealing with tough, real-life issues. An excellent, fun read that stands alone.

Blake Junger, a retired Navy SEAL, is determined to white-knuckle away his alcoholic tendencies alone — until a a 5-year-old girl decides he’s her friend. Single mom Natalie Cooper rebuilt her life, but her grumpy neighbor reawakens hormones she thought long-dead. Natalie and Blake soon find it harder and harder to remember that they don’t belong together. (AVON, Sep., 370 pp., $7.99)
