WHAT SHE WANTS
Roberts keeps readers on the edge of their seats as she takes us into the psyche of men who are struggling to discover how to get and keep women. The scenes are well written and paint an accurate picture of what it means to feel insecure and awkward around someone you are attracted to. It makes for a nice deviation from the norm, as too often the voice and perspective of men is ignored.
Jonathan Templar is the resident geek of Icicle Falls. He fixes computers, wears glasses and is socially awkward. His poker buddies are also having trouble in the women department. Determined to make an impression on the woman he’s been in love with for years, he turns to romance novels as a resource tool. One writer in particular, Vanessa Valentine, provides him with the tools he thinks he needs to become the man any woman would want. (MIRA, Apr., 400 pp., $7.99)
