WHEN PASSION LIES
by J.K. Beck

Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance
Sensuality: HOT

RT Rating

The most interesting character in Beck’s latest Shadow Keepers novel is the investigator, Gabriel, whose sarcasm and tactics will amuse readers. But the constant arguing between the two “lovebirds” makes warrior woman Caris seem far more bitter than strong.

In the 1700s, Caris and Tiberius were soul mates. As vampires who were worried about a hybrid bringing the plague to France and England, they worked together to make it stop.

In the present, Tiberius is deeply embedded in the political world using everything from espionage to eavesdropping to change a vote that will put an evil being into the Alliance. Not only is Tiberius against this fiend, because of his own decision, his beloved Caris is now the beast’s partner.

When a scientist is killed by Caris for revenge, she and Tiberius once again must work together — while a hellhound from Texas, Gabriel Casavetes, searches for the killer. Add to this deep, dark plot the kidnapping of a child, evil experiments set to destroy the paranormal sects and a romance that isn’t quite dead, and you get a hot-blooded mystery.
