Smith utilizes the “second chance at love” theme to its best advantage with an emotionally powerful and passionate love story. There is always an underlying depth to Smith’s works that allows readers into the hearts of her characters; this is her strength and her gift to fans.

Trystan Kane has done his best to forget but never forgive Vienne La Rieux for scarring his heart and his youthful pride. The time has come for him to exact his revenge. He gambles and wins Vienne’s debt voucher to become her partner in Saint Row. Vienne is used to controlling her life and her passions. But that becomes difficult as they work together on a new store being constructed near Harrods. The sexual tension between them is palpable because of the tight rein they try to keep on their desires. She fears the pain of loss and he is determined to teach her to trust, but pride gets in the way until Trystan is injured and Vienne must work through her past to accept Trystan’s love.
