Whispers and Lies (3) by Diane Pershing is peppered with countless red herrings as New York Times Magazine writer Will Jamison searches for the truth behind a scandal involving a New York senator. His motives are unknown to veterinarian Louise McAndrews, who thinks he's back in her life simply because he's there to attend his sister's wedding. Lou has always had a crush on Will, but he's not looking for commitment and makes sure she knows that. The relationship that develops between them is physical only, and with all the secrets and emotional
distance they're keeping, readers are left wondering how the two will ever manage to find true love. The abrupt ending, with all the pieces tied together, is predictable.
