Steamy sex is always on the menu when it comes to these authors, and readers will appreciate them not glossing over the intimate details. The storylines in both tales are page-turners with enough drama to keep you riveted. However, because the stories are jammed into one book, more detail could have been given to better flesh out each story.

In Black’s “Wicked All Night,” Decker McConnell has been accidentally hired to kill Rachel Linden. After seeing her picture, his natural instinct is to protect her. Decker must figure out why someone wants her dead while exploring the unfamiliar feelings she inspires. In Byrd’s “Make Me Yours,” Scott Ryder is surprised to find Lily Heller, daughter of his ex-boss and a woman he vowed never to touch, lurking on his doorstep. She needs his help, and Scott is forced to stick as close to her as possible. (BERKLEY, Oct., 304 pp., $15.00)
