Hill keeps us glued to the wheel as we navigate the twists and turns of this follow-up to Getting Hers. This is a wonderful, fast-paced tale of cleansing, consequences and conscience.

After having to close her lucrative escort business in the States, Tess McDonald rebuilds in Aruba with two women who share her secret about the connections of three murders. But Vincent, the undercover detective who stole -- and then broke -- her heart, tracks her down. Feeling betrayed by her assistant district attorney sister, Tess is blind to the real Judas plotting her demise. Confronting her past will be either the key to her survival and happiness or her final, hellish hour. (St. Martin's, Dec., 256 pp., $21.95)
