After returning from the battlefield, Lord Peter Northrup troubles himself with no concern more serious than having a fashionable wardrobe, until he meets the exceptionally beautiful orphan Sarah Killian. Sarah is a good, sweet girl who takes care of her younger brother, which only complicates Peter's deepening attraction to her. Then he witnesses her stealing.

Sarah's taken over the mantle of the currently missing Saint of Seven Dials, who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. But she's only doing this to save her brother from a life of crime. Can she earn Peter's understanding and forgiveness?

The heroine's involvement with the secret organization of the mysterious Saint of Seven Dials proves less involved, and thus less interesting, than it could have been, but this Regency-style romance has innovation and good writing in its favor, along with creative touches borrowed from Cinderella and Robin Hood.
