Reeling from her longtime boyfriend Steven's death, Francesca Lang is ill-prepared to deal with his estranged half-brother, geologist Guy Dymoke. Or to hear what's in Steven's will: He's left her and their small son virtually penniless, dependent on the possibility that marriage to Guy will solve everything. Guy has secretly loved Francesca for years and is glad to help—but she wants to be more than simply A Wife on Paper (4). Liz Fielding somehow makes an unlikely scenario seem reasonable—probably because the characters mesh so well. Guy is noble and sensitive beneath his cool veneer, and Francesca deserves him.
