Miss Cymberly Winthrop refuses to wed after being compromised and decides to join her Colonel father in Portugal in THE WILLFUL MISS WINTHROP (2) by Wilma Counts. After the deaths of her father and prospective fianci, Miss Winthrop refuses to abandon the work she has begun until the war has ended and victory is declared. After she returns to England her heart can begin to heal. This novel will fare better with fans of the historical romance than with regency aficionados. Its well-written, with considerable historic detail, but a self-righteous heroine and a slow-moving love story make it difficult to engage the readers interest. (October)
