Anderson brutally and unflinchingly examines one girl's total and completely obsessive eating disorder. Readers will ache for Lia as much as they want to shake her shoulders and snap her out of it. This is a great read, a good conversation starter and a sad story that will make you think.

Lia's former best friend Cassie is dead, felled by the ugly and awful demons who still haunt the living Wintergirl. Lia spirals downward and begins hiding even more of her destructive habits from her family, while their suspicions continue to rise. Will she be able to banish Cassie's ghost forever and finally silence her demons? (VIKING, Mar., 288 pp., $17.99, ISBN: 9780670011100, HC, 14 and Up)
