Mystery, magic, love and death are all found in WINTERTIDE. More of a fantasy than a romance, I would like to have seen more of the hero. Still, this is a well written story of sword and sorcery and one not to be missed.

The attack on the village left many dead, though Drusilla escapes and is left to bear a child, one the healer Bronya will raise. Life for 16-year-old Khamsin is full of chores and learning incantations. The ailing Bronya forsees danger for Khamsin in her seventeeth year, and asks her to marry the village smith.

After Bronyas death Khamsin takes the special sword Bronya designed outside the village to place her spells on it. In her absence, the village is destroyed and those she cares for are killed. Rescued by Rylan the Tinker, she starts a journey with him that will change her life and her world.
