THE WISE MAN’S FEAR
Genre: Fantasy, General Fantasy
The highly anticipated second volume of the Kingkiller Chronicles is worth the wait. It’s an amazingly immersive and detailed story, where not a single word is unnecessary or out of place. Kvothe is a fascinating and probably wholly unreliable narrator and his story truly is epic.
Kvothe continues to tell Chronicler the story of his life. Still at the university, he gets into scrapes galore and pursues petty grudges with a group of friends who are likely better than he deserves. He also continues to search for answers about his parents’ deaths.
On a forced break from his education, Kvothe travels to the other side of the world to help a powerful lord defend the honor of the Edema Ruh, and survives the beguilingly seductive attentions of the Fae Ferulian. (DAW, Mar., 1,008 pp., $29.95)
