Fourth in Mallory’s funny and romantic series, this book can be read alone (but will be fully appreciated in order). Because of its time-twisting plot, The Witch is Back could be viewed almost as a prequel or alternate beginning. Lighter fare than the previous novel, Witchful Thinking, this installment in the Jolie Wilkins series is full of humorous, genuine dialogue and realistic characterization that will delight readers. Mallory has a distinct gift for leaving her readers wanting more. Fortunately, exclusive content is included for those readers desiring a bit more Jolie or Rand in their lives.

One day she’s Queen, the next she’s back in her little tarot-reading shop without a clue! With no idea of the witchy power she possesses, Jolie is romanced by a handsome dark stranger. In fact, her love life has never been better. Another man has come knocking — but she can’t seem to shake an odd feeling of déjà vu, like something isn’t right. The fate of the Underworld depends on which man Jolie chooses, restoring order or creating utter chaos. (BANTAM, Jul., 368 pp., $7.99)
