In the newest adventure of Firekeeper and her wolf companion, Blind Seer, they travel to a remote location to help Truth, the wise jaguar, regain her sanity. They discover mysterious artifacts in the buried rooms that Truth has led them to with the help of a shadowy voice.

Truth suspects that the voice that has brought her back to sanity has an agenda of its own, and as she guides Firekeeper and Blind Seer through their search for the origin of the artifacts, she becomes more certain that this is the case.

This entry is up to the level of other books in the series, and Firekeeper continues to be a compelling protagonist. She's more secure in her skin this time around, and she's the most interesting thing about the book. Lindskold is a writer with strong world-building skills and a knack for intricate yet comprehensible plots. (Apr., 528 pp., $27.95)
