This is a captivating mystery with some absorbing family dynamics that will keep the reader involved until the very end. Though it’s not difficult to understand the heroine’s lack of successful relationships, it’s a bit more challenging to empathize with her amazingly fast hook-up with the hero.

A new job too good to pass up — teaching a class at a university — has author and twice-divorced mom of three, Daniella Quinn, returning to her hometown of Casper, Wyo. Staying temporarily with her parents, Dani finds herself strongly attracted to neighbor Chris Gorham. When asked to look at some human bones found at a construction site at the university, bones that were not turned over to the proper authorities, Dani gets involved in secrets that may include not only Chris, but her own family as well. It doesn’t help that her father is in the early stages of dementia. (KOEHLER, Jun., 230 pp., $16.95)
