YOU GIVE GOOD LOVE
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Multicultural
Taking place over a series of weeks, the challenge for this story is having a couple of likable characters not only become business partners overnight, but also fall in love. The author introduces the heroine as actively depressed, which makes her blossoming seem rushed. Oddly, there’s a charm to the couple that keeps the pages turning.
Hope Warren has an art degree which, so far, has been useless, as she works in a Brooklyn photocopy shop. A recent breakup only adds to her malaise. Dylan Healy runs an Internet-based greeting card company and dreams of opening a daycare focused on art. The two have had a customer/client relationship for five years without really getting to know each other. Through a twist of fate, Hope makes a doodle for Dylan that he convinces her will make a great line of cards. Their combined effort sells fast, and their working relationship turns quickly into a romance. Dylan is a determined, optimistic breath of fresh air, and Hope comes to understand how good life can be. (KENSINGTON, Oct., 448 pp., $15.00)
