Carlson's latest touches the heart. It's easy to identify with her characters' struggles and triumphs, and the gentle faith message hits just the right note.

Four women became friends in first grade because they were all named Linda. Choosing to go by their middle names, they went their separate ways. Now, 47 years later, they reconnect at a high school reunion. As they move toward friendship again, the ladies learn new things about themselves and make changes to help them contend with this phase of their lives. (DAVID C. COOK, Mar., 320 pp., $14.99)
