 by Holly Denham
RT Rating: Category: CHICK LIT Publisher: SOURCEBOOKS Published: June 2009 Type: Chick Lit |
| Written entirely in e-mail form, this is
a very funny -- but lengthy -- read. Denham herself got a publishing deal
after her personal e-mails were uploaded online, and she creates a warm, comedic heroine who slowly grows a backbone. There's a marvelous twist at the end that helps rebuild momentum after a rather plodding middle.
Summary: Holly fibs on her resume to get a receptionist gig at a large financial company in London. After coming to verbal blows with high-and-mighty office assistants and catching the eye of a debonair vice president at the company, she starts taking more of an interest in her work -- and is sure to keep her friends Jason and Aisha updated. But when a lie Holly has been keeping threatens to be exposed, she'll need to hold on to her sense of humor -- and friends -- to get through it all. (SOURCEBOOKS, Jun., 672 pp., $14.99)
