2011 RT BOOKLOVERS Convention

April 6-10

Los Angeles, CA

The best thing about attending an RT convention is that there is something for everyone in our book-loving community. Workshops led by top-selling authors are set up just for fans so that in addition to the parties and events, there is a full program of author chats, our famous Wild & Wacky Reader Party, fun games (like Bad Boy Bingo) and, of course, lots of giveaways!

Over the years our bookseller program has become one of the best in the industry, with a comprehensive program designed to help booksellers thrive in this challenging market.

But our pièce de résistance is our Writers’ Program, with more than 100 cutting-edge workshops that will take you into the future of publishing.

This year, we will offer workshops in 15 genres, including a full program for two hot markets: young adult and graphic novels. There are also programs for craft, business, media, marketing and social networking. We’ll also have several workshops on the ever-growing e-book market, and experts will help you navigate the pros and cons of this medium. Workshops on screenwriting for both TV and film, as well as insiders’ tips for those who are looking to break into the Hollywood scene, will also be offered.

Thanks to the success of recent YA book and film series like Harry Potter and Twilight, and the building anticipation for film adaptations of Melissa Marr’s upcoming feature film Wicked Lovely, and Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games, the young adult market is exploding. To bring you into the know, bestseller Melissa Marr, who has been on The New York Times hardcover, paperback and series lists, as well as bestseller lists for Publishers Weekly, The Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times, has assembled an impressive roster of the best in the business to lead the programs and workshops for writers interested in breaking into the YA market. As a bonus, she is also arranging a workshop for fans, as well as one for booksellers, so that everyone will get to meet the superstars of this genre. YA authors who have already agreed to attend include Melissa Marr, Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Melissa de la Cruz, Kelley Armstrong, Holly Black, Cassandra Clare, Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl, Alyson Noel, Sarah Rees Brennan, Ally Carter, Rachel Vincent, Michele Jaffe, Simone Elkeles, Jackie Kessler, Richelle Mead, Lauren Myracle, Clare B.
