Ask Mariah

Take one dashing, sexy hero with a penchant for old Victorian homes, mystery novels and women with dark, seductive eyes. Add a beautiful brunette with a great smile, wonderful sense of humor and a passion for history, and you have the recipe for a perfect match...

Well, I forgot to mention you also have to mix these ingredients with whirlwind six-year old twins with a big secret, a colorful Italian family and a little bit of magic. Oh, and the heroine just happens to look like the hero's late wife.

As you can see, I enjoy writing romantic stories that encompass not just one gorgeous man (although he's there) and a beautiful, unpredictable heroine (she's there, too), but ones that involve their grandparents, parents, children and all their crazy aunts, uncles and cousins.

In ASK MARIAH, a remarkable resemblance between two women leads to the revelation of shocking secrets and an unexpected romance. Set in beautiful San Francisco, ASK MARIAH offers not only a passionate, tender romance but also a warm and poignant story about mothers and daughters, and will be out just in time for Mother's Day.

ASK MARIAH is my third book from Avon. The title is based on an actual children's game which involves a fortune-teller in a crystal ball. Everyone knows the answers are pre-recorded, but I couldn't help noticing the look of wonder in my children's eyes when the lights came on and the wizard began to speak.

Those of you who read and enjoyed Daniel's Gift will be pleased to know it has gone on to a fourth printing and been optioned for a television movie by an independent producer. Hopefully this touching tale of a young boy and his wacky guardian angel will make it to the small screen. I'm currently working on my next novel for Avon, ROBIN'S SONG, due out in early 1998.

I enjoy hearing from readers. Write to me at P.O. Box 304, Burlingame, CA 94011-0304. An SASE is appreciated.
