A CHICK LIT WRITER IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING

WARNING: DO NOT EXPECT A RETELLING OF "Little Red Riding Hood" in author Donna Kauffman's THE BIG BAD WOLF TELLS ALL. Rather it is her debut chick lit novel for Bantam, which follows a career spent penning howling good pararnormals (also for Bantam), category romances for Harlequin Blaze and Temptation, and erotic romances for Kensington's Brava imprint. With the
completion of her fifth paranormal, The Charm Stone, Kauffman says, "I felt I'd reached a point where I was done exploring that subgenre. I realized I still wanted to write the same type of story, in the same tone—sexy, fast-paced, snappy dialogue—as my paranormals…just sans the 'woo-woo' element. The 'chick-lit' label happened after the fact. When my 'voice' was stripped of the paranormal conventions, what was left fell more squarely into that realm."

In THE BIG BAD WOLF TELLS ALL, Tanzy Harrington
is a single-girl columnist who boldly (and baldly) explores her own love life in a column for a hot new Internet magazine called MainLine. She doesn't understand the double standard that women get stuck with and gravitates toward "wolves"—the type of guy you wouldn't take home to grandma. Kauffman's second chick-lit title, THE CINDERELLA RULES (Bantam), will be released in January '04. An excerpt appears in THE BIG BAD WOLF. All the more to read, my dears…
