Heart of the Falcon

From the moment Daniel Falcon took off his hat in Only Hers (Arabesque), and a cascade of salt-and-pepper hair fell over his shoulders and down his back, readers have been asking for his story. Part African-American and Native American, Daniel is ruthless in business, loyal to his friends and a stealer of women's hearts while guarding his own. A chance encounter with Madelyn Taggart, the little sister of his best friends, Kane and Matt, is about to shake up his world and test his belief in love to the limit.

EXCERPT FROM Heart of the Falcon:

"Your brothers are good friends," Daniel said.

Madelyn placed her hands in her lap, her appetite gone. "So I can't be one, is that it?"

Black eyes bore into hers. "It wouldn't stop there, and we both know it."

"We could try," she offered.

His laughter was rough. "You can't be that naive."

"I'm not naive or afraid of what I want."

"You should be." Rising, he pushed his chair back under the table. "I'll get something on the way home. You need to rest."

She was right behind him. "Stop telling me what I need. I can take care of myself."

He whirled, eyes blazing. "Just because you put down that guy tonight doesn't mean it might not have been a different story if he had been armed or more determined."

"Any man who touches me better have his life insurance paid up."

"Is that so?"

"That's so."

"You like challenges, do you? Let's see how you like this one." Abruptly, he pulled her into his arms. His head dipped.

She closed her eyes, expecting an assault on her body. She should have known better.

The assault came, but it was against her senses.

I'm thrilled that the book has been selected by Literary Guild and Doubleday for their book clubs. May I offer a small word of warning? Daniel makes a statement that may set some readers' teeth on edge.

But have faith. He redeems himself in true heroic fashion. My next release is BREAK EVERY RULE (Aug. '98).
