Lakota Renegade

I love to have the chance to "talk" to my readers. First, I have to thank Maria Ferrer for the wonderful review she gave Embrace the Night (Love Spell, Aug. '95), my first Amanda Ashley book. I was thrilled to receive a rating of 41/2, and flattered to be compared to Maggie Shayne and Nancy Gideon, who happen to be two of my favorite authors. If you've never read a vampire romance, I hope you'll give Embrace the Night a try.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch... LAKOTA RENEGADE (Leisure) is my 17th historical romance and my 20th book. When my first novel, Reckless Heart, was published 10 years ago, I never dreamt it would be followed by 19 more.

Creed Maddigan is my favorite kind of hero-seemingly hard as nails, but just waiting for that one woman who can see beyond the frog's tough hide and find the prince within. Jassy is just such a woman-very young, very innocent, perhaps too innocent to realize just how dangerous Creed really is.

I'm also delighted to be part of an anthology entitled LOVE'S LEGACY, which includes short stories by ten other authors. All royalties from this book are being donated to the New York Chapter of the Literacy Volunteers of America. LOVE'S LEGACY will be published in January of next year. I encourage all of you to purchase it in support of this worthwhile cause.

I love being a writer, not only because it gives me a chance to create people and places, but also because of all the neat people I get to meet. I love getting letters from readers and knowing that, in some small way, I've touched their lives, made a bad day a little better, or helped them escape an unkind reality for an hour or two. I want to thank all of you who've taken the time to write. I read and keep all of your letters.

At the moment, I'm on vacation and Amanda Ashley is doing all the work. Last time I looked, she was doing a paranormal romance tenatively titled "Deeper than the Night." I can't wait to see how it ends! If you'd like a full-color postcard for Embrace the Night, please send a legal sized SASE to: P.O. Box 1703, Whittier, CA 90609-1703
