When Kenric of Blackstone first appeared to me, my reaction was sympathy. I know from personal experience how difficult it can be to be part of two different worlds. Trying to meld them together and come up with some sort of cohesive whole. Observing him, once I got past my second reaction (Good Lord, hes gorgeous!), I realized something elseKenric didnt want to combine his two worlds. He wanted to pretend that the magical part of him didnt exist and he was simply an ordinary man. As if!

Then I met Megan Potter. An abused woman trying to break free, she needed magic more than anyone, since it had been missing from her life for so long. A lightening bolt and an ancient spell send her tumbling from her world into a time and a place that only vaguely resembles the history books shed studied in college.

Rescued by Kenric, Megan thinks she is dreaming. How else could she find herself passionately kissing a rugged barbarian in the middle of a raging blizzard?

Bastard and noble, warrior and mage, Kenric is a man of contrasts. And it soon becomes clear to Megan why shes been summoned. This isnt about Faerie prophecies or wizardry, or even a desperate struggle to find her way home.

This is about a man who is not entirely human, yet who is her soul mate, an inexplicable part of her. Will the strength of her love be enough to save his embittered heart?

Do powerful loves like this exist? I think so. Perhaps for every person there is someone else who completes the other half of their soul. After all, it happened to Kenric and Megan. And when soul mates meet, powerful magic is at work indeed!
