Tonight and Forever

I don't know exactly when I began writing stories, but I'm told by former classmates that I began entertaining them with "short love stories" when I was in the eighth grade. I guess during that time I thought more about a special young man than I thought about Algebra. I came down with a condition that my friends thought was a crush, my mom thought was puppy love, and my grandmother thought was a case of spring fever. Whatever I was stricken with at the age of fourteen-and I'm convinced it was true love-has lasted for twenty-eight years.

As a result, I blame my childhood sweetheart, Gerald, who is now my husband of twenty-three years, for the fact that I am an incurable romantic. I love stories and movies with happy endings. Nothing thrills me more than a story that brings laughter to my soul and a sparkle to my heart.

In my first romance novel, Tonight and Forever, Lorren Jacobs runs from a bitter divorce, leaving California to return to her roots in Texas. Hurt and betrayed, she vows never to give her heart to another man. But that vow is impossible to keep when she meets Dr. Justin Madaris. Justin is a widower who believes his wife was the only woman who could touch his heart-until he meets Lorren. The two of them are passionately drawn to each other, but before they can have a future together, they must let go of the past.

As a writer of multi-cultural romances, I want to convey the belief that love is everyone. Writing also gives me an opportunity to feature African-American characters in a positive light in stories that end happily.

My next story, Cupid's Bow will be part of a special Valentine's Day novella featuring short stories by talented authors, Carla Fredd and Felicia Mason. Look for it for Valentine's Day in 1996.

I'm thrilled about the publication of my first book and hope that I can give to others what many authors have given to me-stories not only of love but also of acceptance, fulfillment and commitment.

I'd love to hear from you. You may write to me at: P.O. Box 28267, Jacksonville, FL 32226. Kindly include an SASE for a reply.
