Dinah McCall on The Dangers of "Playing God"

"Ever since man first learned that he could heal, he's been playing at being Godtrying to outwit and outthink the natural order of life. Birth is an amazing thing, and death is an inevitable consequence of life. Science has been trying to duplicate the first and delay the latter for centuries. But when science found a way to give childless couples a chance at parenthood without benefit of adoption, it sparked a revolution of mammoth proportions. The birth of the first healthy "test tube" baby was only the start. Now we are facing more than scientifically-aided pregnancies. Once again, with the manipulation of DNA, science has crossed a new and frightening lineand once again, man has taken it upon himself to play God. Here's an excerpt"

Jack was still prowling about the premises when he heard
a door open, then close. Instinctively, he stepped into the shadowsonly to find himself face to face with a ghost. For the first time in his life, he understood the life-altering fear of being unable to move.

It was the woman from the portrait. Hesitating briefly, he moved toward her, not stopping until they were face to face.

"How do you know me?" she asked

Jack took a deep breath and reached for her hand.

Isabella flinched at the unexpected intimacy.

The shock of solid flesh beneath Jack's hand was as surprising to him as his touch was to Isabella.

"You're real!"

Isabella frowned. "Sirare you drunk?"
