Today, take a gander at RT Editorial Assistant Danielle Valente's picks.
Ahoy, matey! If you’re journeying back in time to 1700s New Orleans, you’re going to need an impressive pirate outfit. A coat and hat combo like this will make you look like you rule the ship. Of course, what pirate outfit would be complete without a little glitz? Grab a pair of gold hoops and find a skull ring to help you rock your inner Jack Sparrow. While you’re enjoying hurricane drinks and chocolate doubloons, other partygoers will wonder if they've stepped into a time machine. French Quarter? 1718? Pirates? You’ll be that convincing. You can also add some black tights and boots to complete your outfit. Full outfit details here.
It’s all about spectacular floats and southern food at the Mardi Gras World Carnivále. Get into the spirit by rocking some traditional purple-green-yellow Mardi Gras colors. A purple dress, this earring set and beads combo will help you do just that. Add a little mystery to your look with a gold mask. Keep that Mardi Gras theme alive by accessorizing with gold shoes and another beaded accessory. Full outfit details here.
You’re going to need some comfortable shoes for this one, the better to make your way up and down Bourbon Street for the Pub Crawl, mingling with publishers, authors and readers. Obviously, an adorable pair of glasses is a must? This button down and these khakis will complete your adorably bookish look. You’ll want to have your hands free, so make sure to bring a cute bag that can easily rest on your shoulder, so you can enjoy the French Quarter and a night of drinks, good company and all things books. How awesome does that sound? Full outfit details here.
Ready to get a little spooky? Author Heather Graham is inviting wicked creatures of the night (okay — day, too) to a dinner and dance party. Channel Morticia Addams and the like with a black lace dress and add deep maroon necklace and ring to complement your goth garb. To add extra pizazz to your dark look, add equally dark lipstick and eye shadow. Black heels will go well with a lace dress, but you might want to ditch them if you’re going to do a lot of dancing. Full outfit details here.
The Harlequin Dance Party is your chance to dress up and mingle with those who love the romance genre as much as you, while reminiscing about all the great events you've had so much fun at the past week. Attend the glamorous affair with a chic party dress and classic black pumps. Adding a simple necklace with these bracelets will complete your elegant look. Happy dancing, romance readers.
