We are excited to announce that the incomparable author Anne Rice will be joining us for the 2012 RT Booklovers Convention in Chicago!

Rice began her writing career in 1976 with Interview with the Vampire and has since written thirty-three additional novels under this name as well as the erotica pen names Anne Rampling and A.N. Roquelaure. The author has also had several of her works adapted into graphic novel format. In total, during the last three and a half decades, Rice has sold nearly 100 million copies of her books.

Although she’s had several different series, Rice is best known for her Vampire Chronicles. Lestat, the main character throughout much of the series, has spawned legions of reader fans. In fact, the series first was just nominated for the Horror Writers Association's Vampire Novel of the Century Award, listed among the likes of Salem's Lot, I Am Legend and Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's twenty-five book series starter, Hotel Transelvania. Furthermore, two books in the Vampire Chronicles series have been adapted into full-length feature films. (1995's Interview with a Vampire with Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and the young Kirsten Dunst is considered one of the classics of vampire film.) And earlier this month we brought readers news that the fourth book in the series is currently being adapted for film by the team that worked on the Star Trek movies and Hawaii Five-O series reboots.

More than a few consider the author to be the “Queen of Vampire Fiction.” She certainly set the precedent for authors like Laurell K. Hamilton and Charlaine Harris, not to mention the slew of vampires that populate paranormal romance.
