With so many authors writing so many books, it can be hard to know where to start reading! But we’re here for you with our Into the Archives feature. Today we’ve got series superstar Maisey Yates, who’s been writing for the Harlequin Presents line since 2010. Maisey’s picked out her personal favorite three titles so you know just what to add to your TBR pile. Take it away, Maisey!
A Royal World Apart — This is one of my favorites, and it’s not a secret why. A princess trying to find her value part from her title, forbidden love and a strong sexy Russian bodyguard … who also happens to be a virgin widower. Yeah, you read that right. A Royal World Apart will always stand out in my mind because of Makhail and his determination to keep his vows and pursue honor, even as he falls for the one woman he should never, ever touch.
Heir to a Dark Inheritance — All I can really say here is tattooed, Russian ex-mercenary. (Do I have a thing for Russians? Maybe.) He’s sort of the direct opposite to my honorable virgin hero. Alik is a man who’s seen and done it all, and when he finds out he has a daughter, it’s time for him to turn his life around. Jada Patel has been widowed for a couple of years and is now in the process of adopting a child — when big bad billionaire Alik shows up to claim her. Lots of emotion and a love scene in an opera house. These two were an explosive and fun couple to write.
A Hunger For the Forbidden — Matteo and Alessia’s story is the final installment of the Corretti Dynasty series and it was by far one of the most fun books I’ve ever written. Okay, maybe fun is the wrong word. Filled with dark secrets, forbidden love, a secret pregnancy and a whole lot of angst, it’s definitely an emotional book. But it’s a story I really connected with, and when I sat down to write it, it just felt like it was there. Forbidden love is a favorite theme of mine (I’m sure many of you have realized that by now) and taking these two people from enemy families, who shared a bond the moment their eyes met, and finally getting to bring them together was so satisfying. They’re very Romeo and Juliet. Without the death, which is really what you want.
