Australian Romance Readers Association Award Winners Announced
We’ve just learned that a few of our favorite authors have been recognized by a few of our favorite readers! The booklovers of the Australian Romance Readers Association have just announced the winners of their fourth annual Romance Readers Awards. The awards were hosted this past week at Sydney’s Cello’s Restaurant at The Castlereagh Boutique Hotel, where the ARRA recognized authors for their contributions to the romance genre in 2011.
The awards honored two writers whose names are synonymous with reading down under: Anna Campbell — for Favourite Australian Romance Author for 2011 and Favourite Historical Romance for Midnight’s Wild Passion — and New Zealander Nalini Singh who took home three awards, Favourite Continuing Romance series as well as recognition for her novels Kiss of Snow and Archangel’s Blade.
Other authors that received awards were Julie James, who walked away with Favourite Contemporary Romance for last year’s A Lot Like Love, Kelly Hunter’s With This Fling … was awarded Favourite Short Category Romance and The Lone Warrior by Denise Rossetti won Favourite Erotic Romance. And last but not least, Helene Young’s Shattered Sky took home the prize in the romantic suspense subgenre.
A big congratulations to the winners! And also kudos to ARRA for advocating romance literature from the talented authors from Australia and beyond. We couldn’t agree with their picks more. In fact, Anna Campbell’s book is up for an RT Reviewers’ Choice award for 2011 Best Sensual Historical Romance and Nalini Singh’s two novels have also been nominated in the paranormal category as well as her Harlequin Nocturne book Lord of the Abyss. And the author has also been nominated for a Career Achievement for her body of work. We will be announcing our winners at the RT Booklovers Convention Awards Ceremony in Chicago in April.
