Hard Case Crime, publisher of new as well as classic, long-out-of-print crime novels, is teaming up with a new partner for a relaunch of its pulp paperback series. Titan Publishing Group, an independently owned company based in London, will be the new home for Hard Case, the companies announced in a press release today.
Hard Case Crime’s previous publishing partner, Dorchester Publishing, exited the mass-market publishing market earlier this year, which temporarily stopped the line in August.
Titan’s first Hard Case Crime titles will include a new entry in the Quarry series from Max Allan Collins in September 2011 and an October 2011 sequel to her Edgar-nominated 2007 novel, Money Shot, from Christa Faust.
Hard Case Crime founder and Editor Charles Ardai said in the press release: “Titan has an extraordinary record of creating beautiful, exciting books with exactly the pop culture sensibility that Hard Case Crime exists to celebrate,” adding that “Titan is one of the few publishers that loves pulp fiction as much as we do.”
Titan operates worldwide, with U.S. and Canada sales and distribution being handled by Random House. The company also plans “to acquire all existing stock of Hard Case Crime’s backlist titles from Dorchester Publishing and resume shipping those titles to stores immediately,” according to the press release.
