Last week BookExpo America, the largest annual book trade fair in the U.S., hit New York City. The RT staff braved the crowds of bloggers, authors, readers and publishers that packed into the Javits Center to attend industry events and discuss the future of publishing. And what was on everyone's mind? Lots and lots of e-talk — digital formats are more popular than ever before — and the Young Adult genre. However, the conference wasn't all business. We also took time for some late night fun at parties where we mingled with authors, editors and more. Next week we will bring you an insider look at several events, but first, check out some photos we snapped at BEA 2013.

Workshops about social networking, digital formats and industry trends were packed.

Mary Higgins Clark signed her newest book chatted with readers.

The devil may wear Prada, but author Lauren Weisberger wore a cute floral outfit while signing books for fans.

Fantasy author Brandon Sanderson was a big draw for many readers.

Erotic romance author Megan Hart at the Harlequin Booth.

This was Samhain Publishing's first showcase at BEA.

Don Weisberg, the President of Penguin Young Readers Group, said it best when he told the crowd, "One thing we take away from BEA is that we are a community."

With an open bar, plenty of great music and lots of goodie bags, we had a great time at the HarperCollins gathering.
