Caught On The Cover: January 2013
This month several of our favorite celebrities were "caught on cover", their likenesses spotted on some January new releases. Check out who we found:
Oh, hello there sexy man sandwich! Who’s the lucky girl in between the stud muffins? It’s the heroine of Kelly Jamieson’s Rule of Three. And if you squint a bit, doesn’t she seem to bear a striking resemblance to Hayden Panettiere, star of ABC’s Nashville? It’s pretty cool and quite a coincidence since Hayden’s character on the sultry soap is no stranger to love triangles.
Never mind the handsome hunk on the cover of Stefanie Sloane’s The Scoundrel Takes a Bride. Or that gorgeous dress. No, what we want to know is: Who’s that lady?! Because she kind of looks like actress Olivia Wilde. You may remember her from shows such as The O.C. and House, but did you know she’s pretty much like a romance novel character in real life? She was once married to an Italian prince—a prince with a palazzo! An American actress marries a European prince? We’re pretty sure we’ve read that plot in a Harlequin Presents.
Julianne Hough, is that you? That’s what we said when we peeked at the sensual cover of Elizabeth Essex’s A Breath of Scandal. Not that there’s anything scandalous about Julianne Hough, the two-time champ of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Nope, the only thing questionable about the blonde-haired beauty is that she stared in the remake Footloose. We’ll say it again: Remake. Of. Footloose. For the love of Kevin Bacon, why?
The fourth installment in Diana Pharoah Francis’ Horngate Witches series, Blood Winter, might leave you exclaiming: “That so looks like that Irish girl from the movie adaptations of Atonement and The Lovely Bones!” And you’re right; it totally looks like Saoirse Ronan. But you probably didn’t say her name because you have no idea how to pronounce it. We didn’t either, but we’ve looked it up. It’s apparently announced sheer-sha. The more you know!
It’s a bit jarring to see Christina Applegate, she of Married with Children fame, gracing the cover of Olivia Newport’s The Dilemma of Charlotte Farrow. But it’s as if a demure Kelly Bundy has traveled back in time to relive the life of one of her more buttoned-up ancestors. And, look, this book is also set in Chicago! Humming the “Love and Marriage” theme song? We are.
When you think Bjork, you probably think: Icelandic singer who wore that swan dress to the Academy Awards. But thanks to the lookalike on the cover of Lenore Appelhan’s latest, maybe you’ll also think of Level 2. Seriously, all that cover needs is the head of swan peeking around the neck of the heroine to make it a total Bjork homage!
