Well, it's Monday again. In case you're in the doldrums about this news, we've got a cover reveal to cheer you up! Up today is Tamara Morgan, a rising contemporary star who won the RT editors' hearts with The Derby Girl. Her upcoming If I Stay, the first in Tamara's Montgomery Manor series, which hits stores May 12, is a contemporary-set, upstairs-downstairs tale. This sounds like such a fun twist for our Downton obsession that we can't wait to get our hands on it. Here's the back cover copy:
Ryan Lucas would rather be anywhere but Ransom Creek, Connecticut. After losing his high-adrenaline career as a Hollywood stunt driver, he's had to tuck his tail between his legs and take up employment as a chauffeur for the Montgomerys, a wealthy hotelier family.
Amy Sanders has returned home to Ransom Creek to take over her mother's former position as nanny to the Montgomerys—bringing her close to dashing Jake Montgomery once again. She grew up with a major crush on Jake, and it's not easy to leave those feelings behind, even though her friendship with the hard-edged family chauffeur, Ryan, has a sizzling undercurrent of undeniable attraction.
Amy's determined to prove to Ryan that life at Montgomery Manor isn't all bad, but each time they draw closer Jake swoops in. Amy is torn between two men—and two worlds. And Ryan is rapidly coming to learn that if he wants to make Amy his, he'll have to prove to her that life downstairs can be everything they both want.
And the cover …
We love it! For one thing, it looks so summery in this picture, and we are seriously jonesing for tank top weather, like, real bad. The color scheme is amazing too, the blues and greens are really evocative of a flirty romance, one we can wait to get our hands on!
Here's what Tamara had to say about the cover of If I Stay:
"I love that the focus of this cover is on the hero and heroine at their most dressed-down. You’ve got these two ordinary, attractive young people in jeans and in love…oh, and the expensive car they’ll never own and the multimillion dollar mansion where they work in the background."
One of the best parts of any upstairs/downstairs tale (whether contemp or historical) is that you get to see both sides of the story—and the Montgomery Manor series is all about both sides of the story. If I Stay starts readers off downstairs with the nanny and chauffeur, but I promise that things eventually find their way up to the ballroom!
Alas, we'll have to wait until May to get our greedy little hands on If I Stay, but we think it sounds like it'll be worth the wait! And in the meantime, why not visit our Everything Romance page, for more unlikely love stories.
