Five On Friday: Newly Announced Young Adult Book Deals

There are so many new book deals being made in the Young Adult market that we’ve decided to devote a new special column to them. Here are five of the new YA book deals that we can't wait for — just after they have been announced! And today, in honor of Mystery Month, each of the following deals feature some sort of mysterious element ...

April Henry's Finish Her Off finds the 17-year-old heroine suffering from amnesia in a remote cabin and doing her best to stay alive — despite the attempts of several very determined men to get rid of her. Publication date TBA.

Readers who love the supernatural should be sure to check out Crewel by debut author Gen Albin. The story starts a trilogy set in a world where “spinster” women are able to impact the very fabric of existence. Although there is no publication date yet, we are already looking forward to the blend of romance and action this science fiction read promises to provide!

Three crime-solving teens enter an alternate reality game in Claudia Gabel and Cheryl Klam’s Inception-like thriller, Elusion. However the Utopian world that they discover has a serious darkside. No date has been announced for this book’s release.

In Forevermore by Elle Jasper readers will meet teen Ivy Calhoun. She’s a violin prodigy who uncovers a decades-old secret in a Scottish Castle and along the way falls in love — with a ghost.

The third book in Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl’s Beautiful Creatures series, Beautiful Chaos, will be in stores this October. And on August 2nd the author team is releasing prequel to their newest novel. Titled Dark Dream, it will feature Link, Ethan’s best friend, as he wrestles with the aftermath of being bitten by a Supernatural. Head's up, the first two books in this series both received RT Top Picks!

And here’s your Friday Freebie:

In Katie Kacvinsky’s Middle Ground readers will meet a teen runaway who leads the fight against an oppresive digital school system founded by her father. But after she is captured will she be able to resist the other side's attempts to “reprogram” her? Set for publication Fall 2012, we are looking forward to learning more about Kacvinsky’s world.
