With our column, Forewords, we let readers know the latest book news about some of the web team's most-anticipated upcoming releases across the genres — just as the projects are announced!

NEW SERIES ALERT

Young Adult - Fan favorite author Kiera Cass keeps things interesting with her new (currently untitled) series about teens who are educated to be the ideal friend, and in turn can be bought and sold by the wealthy as companions. Pitched as a mix of Ally Condie's Matched with some of Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go thrown in, we can only hope that this new series is addicting as Cass' popular Selection novels.

Young Adult - Tina Connolly's next project is an interesting departure from her Ironskin series, but still within the realm of the supernatural. A YA project starting with Seriously Wicked, a story that will follow a teen girl whose caretaker is an evil witch! Release date: TBA.

RETURNING FAVORITE SERIES

Historical Romance - If you fell head over heels for Anne Barton’s debut, When She Was Wicked, get ready for more Honeycotes to get their happily ever after! The author has planned two more Regency-set romances in her Honeycote family series. Release dates: TBA.

Romantic Suspense - Bestselling author Kendra Elliot has a few more Bone Secrets up her sleeve, as the author has sold two more books in her popular romantic suspense series. Although there are no dates set yet for books 4 and 5, you can check out book 3, Buried, in stores next month!

PIQUING OUR CURIOSITY

Thriller - Isabel Allende’s next novel gives video games a dangerous twist. Ripper tells the story of a group of genius teenagers from around the world to unmask a serial killer by participating in an online role playing game. The book is set for publication in early 2014.

Historical Fiction - Elizabeth Chadwick is gearing up to release her upcoming Eleanor of Aquitaine trilogy. The Summer Queen, The Winter Crown and The Autumn Throne will tell the stories of the Queen who was both a wife to and a mother of great kings.

Paranormal Romance - A doubtful soul redeemer joins forces with a radical team of cops to helps rescue the souls of New York City from malicious evil in a wild game that transcends dimensions in C.J. Barry’s upcoming novel Soul Game. Release date: TBA.

Contemporary Romance - MMA fighters are all the rage in contemporary romance, and Michele Mannon is throwing her tale into the ring with Octagon Girl, the story of a young woman who goes from ballerina to ring card girl, only find herself swooning over a hunky welterweight. Readers can expect the first novel in Mannon’s series later this year.

MOVING TO PRINT

Erotic Romance - Berkley is picking up yet another self-published erotic romance series with June Gray’s Disarm books. Focusing on an Air Force officer, his faithful girlfriend and the ups and downs of their relationship, we're excited to see what sizzles. Releasing soon!

New Adult - Digital rights to Courtney Cole’s popular self-published release If You Stay, plus the follow up, If You Leave, have been purchased by Grand Central. Releasing this fall, the series is about a young man who uses drugs and women to cope with his mother’s death and the right woman help heal his heart, we know one thing's for certain, we can’t get enough bad boys!

NON-FICTION PICK

Memoir - If you’ve ever been curious about the personal life of a romance industry insider, Harlequin editor Patience Bloom bears all in her upcoming memoir Romance is My Day Job, where she dishes about her own love life and tells a story that’s so enchanting, it could’ve been taken from the pages of a Harlequin! Release date TBA.

MOVIE DEAL

Ramez Naam’s futuristic thriller, Nexus, about a special drug that connects human minds and a doctor who gets into a great deal of trouble trying to improve the formula, has been optioned for film. We can’t deny that a fast-paced science fiction story would make a great movie, and we’re anxious to see how this novel translates to the big screen!
