With our column, Forewords, we let readers know the latest book news about some of the web team's most-anticipated upcoming releases across the genres — just as the projects are announced!


Young Adult - Avery Hastings' debut YA Feuds, starts an exciting series about a genetically engineered ballerina who’s smitten over a tough underground cage-fighter. When the two join forces to stop a deadly virus, there’s no telling what the future holds for their budding romance. Release date: TBA.

Fantasy - Jon Sprunk is kicking off his four-book Book of the Black Earth epic fantasy series with Blood and Iron, a story that follows a slave uprising that threatens to topple a kingdom led by sorcerers. There is no word yet on when the series starter will be available, but we can't wait to be enveloped by this promising fantastical world.


Urban Fantasy - Author Darynda Jones is jumping back into her bestselling Grave series, featuring Charley Davidson, a part-time detective who’s secretly the Grim Reaper, with three more books! We can't wait to see what she digs up next. 


Historical Romance - A noble wounded ex-soldier of the Napoleonic Wars teams up with a beautiful companion to woo her countess in Theresa Romain’s It Takes Two to Tangle. Will they succeed, or will the hero end up involved in an unexpected romance? Find out when the book hits shelves this fall.

Series Romance - Lisa Marie Perry is getting Into the Game with her tale of a female athletic trainer who goes to work for Las Vegas’ NFL team, only to learn that the handsome man she meets at a nightclub is her new co-trainer. Look for this Harlequin Kimani title soon!

New Adult - Two young students find love in the hectic streets of Tokyo in Brenda St. John Brown’s Swimming to Tokyo. There’s no word on whether the hero is a college swimmer, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed because those guys are hot! Readers can pick up this novel November 2014. 

Thriller - If you were afraid of bed bugs, author Jeff Jacobson’s Sleep Tight might cause you to go out and buy a new mattress. In his story, Chicago’s bed bug problem goes from bad to out of control when the CDC discovers the critters contain a deadly plague that causes victims to turn into homicidal maniacs, and two ex-cops must scramble to try and eradicate the insects. Um, excuse us while we go burn our sheets. Release date: TBA.


Romantic Suspense - Self-published author Tara Sivec heads to print with her Fool Me Once trilogy, featuring stories about women who are tired of being deceived by men, and decide to take action. Release dates: TBA.


Contemporary Romance - Jina Bacarr is spicing things up wasabi-style with Naked Sushi, her first book for Harlequin’s Cosmo Red Hot Reads line. An amateur spy is tossed into the wild world of corporate espionage alongside a FBI Special Agent by taking on a dangerous mission — going undercover as a naked sushi model to spy on her sleazy former boss! There is no word yet on a release date, but stay tuned to the RT site for more news on the Red Hot Reads line.


Paranormal Romance - Mary Behre is introducing herself to readers with her first novel, Precious Jewels (no, not those kind), about a hesitant psychic who teams up with a witty cop when a jewel heist leads to murder. Release date: TBA.


Chohel Kamayashi’s science fiction novel-turned-anime video, under the name Yukikaze, is headed to the big screen, with Tom Cruise starring in yet another sci fi hero role. The story? A planetary defense team that must fight off an alien invasion using a wormhole over Antarctica. Antarctica? We were hoping somewhere a little warmer, so Mr. Cruise wouldn’t have to be so bundled up ...
