With our column, Forewords, we let readers know the latest book news about some of the web team's most-anticipated upcoming releases across the genres — just as the projects are announced!


Historical Romance - The next three books in Elizabeth Hoyt’s Maiden Lane series have just been purchased by Grand Central. The stories will continue the series' focus on the characters of all classes who brought together by an orphanage in a London slum, proving that romance truly can bloom in the most unexpected places!

Series Romance - Always entertaining series author Kathleen O'Reilly will be releasing a romantic trilogy and Christmas novella next year. 


Historical Paranormal - Set in Victorian England, Adam McOmber's upcoming novel Empyrean is about a young woman who can “read” the souls of objects. Her ability leads her to join a dangerous secret society. 


Young Adult - Even before it publishes, the film rights to Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler’s novel The Future of Us has been sold to Warner Brothers. The story follows two best friends who log onto a newly created AOL online in 1996 only to find their future Facebook profiles. 


Autobiography - Actress and former talk show host Ricki Lake is penning a revealing autobiography about her life, journey to fame and the lessons she learned along the way. Her book is set to publish Spring 2012. 


Romance - This winter warm up in Mumbai with author Nicola Marsh and her newest release Busted in Bollywood. In the story an Indo-American living in New York travels to India help her best friend escape from an arranged marriage.

Historical Fiction - In Elizabeth Loupas’ The Flower Reader, one of Mary Queen of Scots’ ladies-in-waiting is able to read the future in flowers. But the courtier realizes her gift comes at a price when her husband is murdered because of the secrets she uncovers. 

Mystery - The three brothers in Seth Greenland’s The Angry Buddhist couldn’t be more different. One is a police officer, the other a felon and the third a corrupt politician. But these siblings come together when they are all caught up in a dirty Congressional election and multiple murders. 

Paranormal - The often scary, but always wonderful Seanan McGuire’s thrills readers with his newest cast of characters, a family of cryptozoologists who are trying to ensure the survival of endangered mythological species. Working against them is an organization of monster hunters that will do anything to rid the planet of supernatural beings. Discount Armageddon takes on the feud and also follows a forbidden romance that sparks between members of the opposing groups.

Young Adult – Living inside of glass pods filled with precious oxygen is how most people exist in Sarah Crossan’s upcoming post-apocalyptic novel. The story begins when three teens decide to find out what is beyond their enclosed lives by journeying to the “outlands” with only two days of oxygen in their tanks. Breathe will publish in Fall 2012. 


Talk radio host Michael Savage has written a political thriller that will soon be published. Titled Abuse of Power, the story is about an author who has alienated powerful governments and is now on the run. 

Dave Zeltserman reboots Frankenstein with his new novel, Monster, but in this version scientist Victor Frankenstein is the true abomination; the doctor is doing everything in his power to destroy the world. No word yet on when Monster will publish. 

In J. I. Baker’s historical thriller, The Empty Glass, the young coroner who is one of the first on the scenes at Marilyn Monroe’s tragic death finds the starlet’s diary that exposes secrets of some of the most influential men in America. These powers will stop at nothing to get the book back. 

The fight between the Mossad and the PLO heats up in Mischa Hiller's espionage thriller Shake Off

Will Lavender’s The Descartes Circle features a pair of identical twin brothers. When one is accused on murdering his wife, he disappears for seven days. He is found alive, but he has been tortured and is unable to speak. The other brother makes it his mission to find out what happened during the lost week.
