Forewords - The Books Before The Buzz

With our column, Forewords, we let readers know the latest book news about some of the web team's most-anticipated upcoming releases across the genres — just as the projects are announced!

Romantic Suspense - Get ready for Project Alpha, the newest series from Shayla Black. The series will follow genetically engineered soldiers as they fight to keep the world — and the women they love — safe.

Paranormal Romance - Bestselling author Alyssa Day is launching the League of the Black Swan series. No word yet on the titles of the first three books, however, we do know that the stories will feature the Knights Templar and other supernatural vigilantes who are working to keep the world safe from the Dark Wizard of Bordertown.

Mystery - Publishing this November is the first in Lori Lake's new Leo Reese Mystery series. Starting with Buyer’s Remorse, the aforementioned investigator, Leo, must track down a criminal who will kill anyone that threatens a carefully crafted secret identity.

Historical Fiction - Rosie Sultan’s first novel fictionalizes a previously unexplored period in Helen Keller’s life in which Keller was engaged to her secretary Peter Fagan. Helen Keller in Love publishes Summer 2012.

Young Adult - Chris Howard re-imagines the Twain’s classic Huckleberry Finn as a futuristic thriller. Since trees have become extinct in the post-apocalyptic world that Huck lives in, the teen builds trees out of scrap metal. When Huck is told that there is a possibility that a tree may be left standing he risks everything to battle killers, poachers and opportunists to get a look at the last remaining tree left on earth. The Tree Catcher publishes Fall 2012.

Woman’s Fiction - Residents of Sugar, Texas are proud that they have not become caught up with popular, contemporary culture. However, the idealized life is shattered when the mother of ten living in this community begins a secret liaison with a younger man and confesses on local TV that she has difficulty adhering to the values of the town. No word yet on when Carolyn Dasher’s Sugar, Texas will be released.

Thriller - The award winning Danish television crime series The Killing, set in Denmark’s capital and featuring detective Sarah Lund, will be novelized by bestselling author David Hewson starting in Fall 2012.

Narrative - With relatives such as the first Prime Minister of England and author Horace Walpole, it is no wonder that Jonathan Walpole is so interested in England’s historical figures. In his upcoming memoir/history Mad, Bad and Dangerous, Walpole, a future Lord, gives his own (often humorous) reasons why the public at large is intrigued by British aristocracy. This non fiction title will publish Summer 2013.

Historical Romance - What would you do if your sister were in love with the man who just proposed to you? This is exactly the situation facing the heroine of Aislinn Macnamara’s A Tale of Two Sisters. Release date TBA.

Contemporary Romance - There is a role reversal in Molly O’Keefe’s book This Can’t be Love. Instead of the heroine getting a makeover, it is the hero, a professional hockey player, who changes up the way he looks. His transformation is prompted by his desire to win back his beautiful ex-wife.

Series Romance - The hero in Cat Schield's next Harlequin Desire is looking for revenge on the woman who broke his heart. However, years have passed since their fated relationship ended and after meeting again, suddenly revenge does not looking as sweet to him as possibly rekindling the love that they once shared. We don’t yet know the title of this book, but we do know it will publish next summer.

Fantasy - Are all villains evil? Are all heroes good? Find out in Philippa Ballantine's Hunter and Fox, which takes place in a dark world where motivations are unclear. The first of the two books in the series will be releasing in 2012 from Pyr.

Paranormal Romance - When a vampire kills her husband, the pregnant heroine in Leanna Ellis's Forbidden is rescued by a cop turned vampire hunter. The couple gets away just before the baby is born and when the three form a unit, choices must be made for the future.

Erotica - In author Alison Kent’s spicy tale Undeniable three brothers return home to their Texas hometown and stir up trouble with the town’s women.

Romantic Suspense - When a female SWAT sniper partners up with an investigative journalist sparks fly between the two. Now if they can only use that energy to hunt down the dangerous stalker that threatens their love … No word on when Robin Perini's book In Her Sights releases but we can’t wait to get our hands on what promises to be a thrilling tale.
