Mainstream Fiction - Looking for an exotic tale? Award-winning author Isabel Allende never disappoints. Her newest offering, Maya's Notebook, will be published in October of next year. It is set in Berkeley and Chile and follows a young woman whose life is falling apart and her subsequent move to an isolated island off the coast of South America.
Romantic Suspense - Sharon Sala has just signed a multi-book deal with Mira for several romantic suspense stories. We can’t wait!
RETURNING FAVORITE SERIES
Paranormal - Kristina Douglas, aka Anne Stuart, will release the third and fourth books in her series The Fallen. In The Fallen universe, angels no longer allowed in heaven fight demons that are loose on earth.
NEW SERIES ALERT
Mystery - Clea Koff is releasing a new crime series featuring a quirky forensic anthropologist team that investigates war crimes which others have forgotten. No release date is set for the first book in the series, Freezing.
Young Adult - Reported to be a series of Bourne Identity-like thrillers for teens, Debra Driza's upcoming MILA 2.0 starts as the teenage protagonist discovers that she is a government experiment — an android with human emotions.
Young Adult -Nickelodeon has just purchased author Sarah Mlynowski's middle school series Magic in Manhattan which includes 2007’s Spells & Sleeping Bags. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on when fans will be able to watch the sisters Miri and Rachel navigate their teen years as they learn how to be witches.
REAL LIFE TALES
Memoir - While visiting the East, Katherine Jenkin met and fell in love with a Buddhist monk. Jenkins writes about their relationship in her memoir Lessons From the Monk I Married which will be released Spring 2012.
Memoir - Sophie Hayes tells her own story of being trafficked for six months in a foreign country. Hayes, a privately educated British girl, is hoping to educate people and show that there is no "typical victim" of this rarely discussed crime. Trafficked will be released from Harper in December.
PIQUING OUR CURIOSITY
Romance - What is a single, unemployed woman, just shy of 40 to do? According to Kim Izzo’s next release The Jane Austen Marriage Manual it is time to consider marrying for money. Release date set for 2012.
Thriller - Known for her YA novels, author Francesca Lia Block will be releasing an adult novel titled The Elements. Promising to be quite different from her previous work, Block’s novel has been called a psychosexual thriller where a college girl attempts to figure out what happened to her missing childhood friend.
Mainstream Fiction - A young ballerina spies for Britain while in German-occupied Paris in Lynn Sheene's upcoming novel Under Paris Skies. While undercover as a cabaret dancer, the woman hears secrets that could change the course of the war. Release date TBA.
Thriller - Actor and rapper Ice-T will write Kings of Vice along with co-author Mal Radcliff. Their story, publishing this fall, follows an ex-gang leader newly released from jail and looking for revenge.
