Forewords - The Books Before The Buzz

With our column, Forewords, we let readers know the latest book news about some of the web team's most-anticipated upcoming releases across the genres — just as the projects are announced!

Paranormal Romance - Katie Rues starts her new Moon Shifter series this February with Alpha Instinct and will be continuing it with the e-novella Lover’s Instinct. The second tale features a werewolf who falls for the woman he’s supposed to be protecting from a band of vampire blood-selling rogues. Publication date: TBA.

Urban Fantasy - Jennifer Estep is set to continue her Elemental Assassin books with three more installments. This will bring the total number of stories about the feisty underworld killer Gin aka Spider, to ten books. We say keep those books coming! Gin’s attitude (and escapades) have already won her the RT Reviewers’ Choice 2010 Urban Fantasy Protagonist Award.

Historical Romance - When the Earl hero of Pamela Sherwood’s Waltz With a Stranger finally decides to marry, he expects the union to be a straightforward business transaction. However, it’s not long before he realizes that his intended’s sister is the woman he shared a life-changing dance with two years ago. Publishing date: TBA.

Contemporary Romance - In Tucker’s Crossing by Marina Adair, the hero who returns to his hometown discovers more than he expected waiting for his arrival: his ex has also come back to town and she has an incredible secret. We can’t wait for the delicious-sounding plot to unfold, and a quick web team poll shows that we’re split in our guesses: it’s either secret baby or the couple is still married!

Mainstream Fiction - Beauty school holds the key to success for the heroine of Kim Boykin’s The Wisdom of Hair. After she leaves her tiny South Carolina home for professional training she finds a community of quirky women who are ready to teach her about friendship. Readers can expect this heart-warming tale on shelves in Spring 2013.

Young Adult - A teenage girl will survive from the pandemic sweeping across civilization, if she can survive in the POD meant to save her. But when she emerges with her fellow POD-ies, it’s to a world that is wildly different from the one they left behind. Michelle Pickett’s aptly titled PODS promises to be a first-rate adventure and sounds to us like it’s captured the spirit of The Hunger Games!

Series Romance - Off The Market by Lisa Watson will feature a real estate guru who has grown weary of his mother’s botched attempts at matchmaking. But now he wonders if his perfect (and gorgeous) new employee isn’t actually one of his mother’s recruits. To find out, keep your eyes peeled for this Kimani novel that will be publishing in 2013.

Romantic Suspense - When the mother of three newspaper heiresses passes away, her funeral brings the sisters back together and they decide to finally unravel their brother’s disappearance, a tragedy that took place years ago. Along the way to the truth will the three girls also find their own happily ever afters? Everything will become clear when Tanya Anne Crosby’s soon-to-be-titled novel is released in 2013.

Fantasy - Can a sorceress who comes to Arthur’s home 500 years after his death avert a dangerous prophecy and safeguard the future of society? She will face her test in The Well of Tears by Roberta Trahan. Publication date to be announced.

Memoir - Fakebook tracks David Cicirelli as the author makes up his life on Facebook and convinces his loved ones that he’s left his job and is trekking across the country with the daughter of an Amish family. But he’s about to discover that a life lived on social media can be full of surprises.

Paranormal Fiction - Showtime has just bought the television rights to the novel Walking Through Walls by Philip Smith, about the man’s experience of living with his father, a mind-reading psychic healer. Nicholas Wooten, who worked on Chuck, Law and Order and NYPD Blue, will be writing and executive producing along with several others.
