With our column, Forewords, we let readers know the latest book news about some of the web team's most-anticipated upcoming releases across the genres — just as the projects are announced!


Historical Romance - Author Jennifer Haymore is embarking on a new historical series which will introduce a duke and his improper family, who are all working together to uncover the truth about what happened to their mother — but may be surprised as they each find their own happily ever afters along the way! No word yet on when the first book in the series will hit shelves.

Erotic Romance - Readers can expect at least two steamy stories in Rhyannon Byrd’s Dangerous Tides series, which will follow a group of lawmen that will do whatever it takes to protect the women they love. Taking It kicks off the series and we can’t to meet the first of these hunky heroes with badges! Release date: TBA.

Series Romance - If you’re home, home on the range, then Kimberly Raye’s upcoming heroes will fit right into your rancher lifestyle. These three heroes are part of the professional rodeo circuit (and “modern day Texas outlaws”) and they are about to whisk three lucky women right off their feet!

Science Fiction - When a deep-sea drilling company looking for oil stumbles upon an ancient evil at the depths of the ocean, they release a creature that may mean the end of humanity. What will happen? You’ll have to check out the Dave Hooper series by John Birminghman. Book one will be published in 2014.


Paranormal Fiction - We can’t get enough of Melissa de la Cruz’s adult series, Witches of East End, so we are thrilled that the adventures of these supernatural ladies will continue for books three, four and five. Readers can expect to visit these women’s fictional North Hampton, New York home in 2013, 2014 and 2015, as one book will hit shelves each year.


Historical Fiction - Kat Quinn will be whisking readers back to Renaissance Italy for her next, yet-untitled tale. The story will focus on the mistress to the Borgia Pope, Guilia Farnese, and give readers a peek into her world and the men, the Pope, her cook and her bodyguard, who all play important roles. If this sounds like your type of story, you won’t have long to wait. It will be released in 2013!

Thriller - Screenwriter David Guggenheim teams up with Nick Mennuti to write Exile, a tale of an American man living in Cambodia who is wrongfully identified as a government operative. Fans of Hitchcock’s work should take note of this upcoming 2013 read, which promises to be action-packed!

Contemporary Romance - Author Marty Tidwell is taking on a new pseudonym, Molly Cannon, to pen a tale about a woman scorned. The story has a unique twist, her husband leaves her for a librarian 20 years older than the heroine. However, becoming a Dumped Debbie might just be the best thing to ever happen to this leading lady, because it frees her up to reunite with her childhood crush. Expect small town drama galore for July 2012’s Ain’t Misbehaving.


Paranormal Romance - Romance sparks between two recently reunited childhood friends who are on a quest to recover a lost treasure — and locate a missing professor in “The Curse of the Imnada” by Alix Rickloff. Expect Earth-shaking revelations in this Fall 2012 novella!

Mystery - Castle fans, rejoice, you’ll soon be treated to three original Derrick Storm novellas from “Richard Caste” who is played by the dashing Nathan Fillion on the ABC series. The first, “A Brewing Storm” will be out this May, with digital shorts to follow in July and August.


Biography - I Dare Me by Lu Ann Cahn recounts one woman’s year of trying new things each day. She experiences the unexpected, like drum lessons from a famous rock star, to the unusual, like the eating a dead scorpion. The year changed the woman’s perceptions of life — and we bet it will influence ours, too. Publication date: TBA.


If you adore retro spy stories, be sure to keep your eyes open for the film adaptation of Raymond Benson’s September 2011 novel The Black Stiletto. The story follows a young man who discovers that his now elderly mother was a spy who took on Communists, mafia men and more back in her heyday — but now one of her greatest enemies is back, demanding vengeance on her family members.


Young readers will be getting their own lessons in Stephen Colbert-style schooling. Following the popular comedian’s release of I Am America (And So Can You!), he is releasing a book for young readers titled I am a Pole (And So Can You!) which will be available on May 8, 2012.

Retired astronaut Mark Kelly (the husband of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford) is getting ready to release Moustronaut: A Partially True Story. The story follows a mouse’s adventure on a space shuttle, which is part of an experiment. This story will be blasting off in October 2012.

Author Paolo Bacigalupi will pen his first novel for young readers, Zombie Baseball Beatdown. In this Spring 2013 novel, three boys on a baseball team must figure out what to do when they learn that the local meatpacking plant is turning people — and animals — into the walking dead. But they better make plans fast, or they’ll become something’s breakfast!
