Forewords: The Books Before The Buzz

With our column, Forewords, we let readers know the latest book news about some of the web team's most-anticipated upcoming releases across the genres — just as the projects are announced!

Young Adult - Rising star Gretchen McNeil has just announced a new series in the works titled Don't Get Mad. In the first two books Get Even and Get Dirty, readers will meet the series’ protagonists, four teen girls who form a secret society with the mission of helping bullied classmates get revenge. However, things go too far when a target of their home-style justice winds up dead. There is no word yet on when this series will be launching, but with a premise that mixes one part Revenge with one part The Breakfast Club, we couldn’t be more excited to get our hands on the first book.

Erotic Romance - Author Saskia Walker is known for writing saucy historical tales and she is soon to deliver a new one. In her upcoming The Burlington Manor Affair, two strong willed people fight over a stately home in Britain. However, the fiery feelings the hero and heroine feel towards each other quickly transform into an undeniable passion.

Contemporary Romance - In a clear case of opposites attracting, Sarah Castille’s Against the Ropes pairs a naive young woman with the owner of an illegal fight club. While he secretive hero is clearly hiding a traumatic past, it is the heroine’s secrets that may destroy their chance at love. Look for this title coming soon from Sourcebooks.

Science Fiction - When an ancient message from deep space has a team of astronauts taking off for parts of the universe unknown, nobody could have predicted that actual life would be found on other planets. But in S.G. Redling's otherworldly novel Thrum, anything is possible. Except for maybe the coming together of two different races — that may prove to be one step that mankind just cannot make. Readers can look for this thrilling outer space tale to hit shelves next year.

Mainstream Fiction - At one time or another, everyone has dreamed of picking up and taking a break from their life. But why would an extremely successful Manhattanite couple trade in their upper crust lifestyle for the small town living found in Newport, Rhode Island? You will have to check out Allison Lynn’s upcoming tale The Exiles to find out.

Thriller - When the killer-for-hire in Derek Haas’ Columbus finds out that there is a contract out on his life, he goes on the run — and into the arms with a mysterious Italian woman. But the question becomes, will he be able to stay out of the assassins’ crosshairs or has he just put himself in even more danger?

Paranormal Romance - Working in the government’s dragon relations office is difficult enough, but when an ex-boyfriend comes back to town to work for the most powerful dragon in her district, the heroine of Lorenda Christensen's Never Deal with Dragons clearly is about to have more problems than she can handle. This tale of larger-then-life paranormal creatures and a possible reconciliation will be available to download in 2013.

The hero of Marquess of Cake has a decided sweet tooth, which keeps him coming back to his favorite bakery for some treats — and also to catch another look at the baker’s beautiful daughter.
